03 — Rate band, Jaipur → Thailand

Starting rates. Real pricing depends on weight.

Final price depends on actual or volumetric weight (whichever is greater) plus the international fuel surcharge in force on your booking date. GST is extra.

Starting per-kg rates

  • Express (5–7 days, door)from ₹950 / kg
  • Economy (7–12 days, door)from ₹700 / kg
  • Min billable weight0.5 kg
  • Pickup from JaipurFree at 5 kg+

Volumetric formula: (L × W × H cm) ÷ 5000.

Worked example

A 2 kg parcel — say a small parcel of non-precious gem-trade samples and a stack of block-print fabric for a Pahurat Marwari buyer:

  • Express, 2 kg × ₹950≈ ₹1,900
  • + fuel surcharge (~25%)≈ ₹475
  • + GST 18%≈ ₹430
  • Approx total, express≈ ₹3,150

Indicative only. Fuel surcharge and rate cards change.

04 — Customs & documentation

What you'll need at pickup.

Customs paperwork is the most common reason an international parcel stalls. Gem-trade samples and B2B fabric move smoothest with clean docs. We'll walk you through it before pickup.

KYC of the sender

One photo ID for the person whose name is on the AWB — Aadhaar, passport or driving licence. We photograph it at pickup; not stored beyond DTDC's record.

Commercial invoice

For commercial goods, a printed invoice listing items, quantity and value. For gem-trade samples — sample-grade non-precious / synthetic / glass — declare clearly with HSN codes; precious-stone samples are not accepted on courier and must go through proper consignment channels. Gift declarations need value too.

Prescription (medicines)

Sealed strips, doctor's prescription with registration number, recipient name matching a Thai pharmacy record where possible. No injectables, no controlled substances. Thai FDA flags unfamiliar pill formats.

05 — Thailand-specific restrictions

What Thailand doesn't let in.

Thai Customs is efficient but the country has firm rules — particularly around drugs (death penalty for trafficking), e-cigarettes (illegal in Thailand outright), and any material critical of the Thai monarchy. Precious gemstones don't move on courier — they need formal consignment routes. These are real Thai laws, not our caution.

Don't even try

  • Precious gemstones, real diamonds, gold — not accepted on courier. Bangkok is a major precious-stone hub but the trade moves through formal consignment / hand-carry / customs-bonded channels, not air courier. Send only sample-grade non-precious / synthetic / glass for evaluation.
  • Drugs of any kind — Thailand carries death penalty for trafficking and severe sentences for possession. Don't test it with anything resembling narcotics.
  • E-cigarettes and vapes — illegal in Thailand. Possession is criminal; couriers are seized and the consignee can be fined.
  • Anti-monarchy material — Thailand's lèse-majesté law is severe. Books, leaflets or any printed material critical of the Thai royal family — even foreign-published — will be seized and may invite further consequences for the consignee.
  • Pornography, obscene material — banned outright.
  • Counterfeit goods — fake-branded clothing, watches, bags.
  • Aerosols and lithium batteries above 100 Wh — universal courier rule, restricted on air leg.
  • Alcohol — courier-restricted; do not ship.

Allowed with care

  • Non-precious / synthetic / glass gem-trade samples — declared with HSN, fair value, and a commercial invoice. Routine into Pahurat / Silom Bangkok jewellery-trade circuits.
  • Block-print fabric, sarees, dupattas — declare item, quantity and a fair value. Pahurat fabric-buyer lane is routine.
  • Books and printed material — non-monarchy-critical; declare title and value.
  • Sealed dry vegetarian sweets — factory-sealed, declare on invoice. Loose mithai is risky.
  • Tablets with prescription — sealed strip, doctor's prescription, recipient matched to a Thai pharmacy or doctor where possible.
  • Non-precious jewellery, small electronics — declare make, value.
  • Papier-mâché and Buddhist-iconography-respectful Indian decorative items — fine inbound; declare clearly.
06 — What goes Jaipur → Thailand

Gem-trade samples to Bangkok, Pahurat fabric, festival outfits.

Gem-trade non-precious samples to Bangkok

This is the lane that defines Jaipur → Thailand. Bangkok is one of the world's largest precious-stone-trade hubs (Silom, Charoenkrung, Mahesak gem district), and Jaipur cutters and Bangkok jewellery-traders have a centuries-old commercial connection. What ships on courier: sample-grade non-precious stones, synthetic stones, glass samples, design references — with KYC, full commercial invoice and HSN codes. What does NOT ship on courier: real diamonds, real precious stones, gold — those move through formal consignment, hand-carry or customs-bonded channels. We're firm about this; it protects you and the consignee.

Pahurat B2B block-print & fabric

Pahurat is Bangkok's 'Little India' wholesale fabric market, with Marwari and Sindhi merchants going back generations. Jaipur block-print cotton, dohars, dupattas and sarees are routine cargo. Commercial invoice + KYC + recipient Thai phone keeps repeat lanes smooth.

Wedding & festival outfits

Thai-Punjabi and Thai-Sindhi weddings happen often in Bangkok — Pahurat, Phra Khanong, Sukhumvit Indian-diaspora families. Sarees, lehengas, sherwanis, dupattas — sent ahead of dates, express, with fair values declared.

Non-precious jewellery for diaspora

Non-precious / costume / silver-plated jewellery for festival wear and gifts. Declared honestly on invoice, no precious-stone embedded pieces on courier.

Buddhist-cultural-exchange materials

Buddhist Thailand and Hindu India share a deep iconographic heritage. Temple-art-respectful Indian decorative pieces, papier-mâché, brass figurines move into Bangkok cultural-traders. Declare clearly.

Diwali parcels (non-food + sealed sweets)

Diyas, decorations, pooja items, and factory-sealed dry sweets. Send 2–3 weeks ahead. Skip agarbatti if you're unsure.

Business documents to Pahurat traders

Marwari trade-correspondence, invoices, signed contracts, sample-tags. Express document service, 4–5 days.

07 — Tracking & proof of delivery

AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.

The moment the parcel is booked into DTDC International, we send you the AWB number on WhatsApp. Type it into the public tracker at dtdc.in any time. When delivery happens we forward the POD — signed slip or photo — within the hour.

08 — Three questions about Thailand shipments

Asked most often.

I'm a Johari Bazaar gem-trader sending samples to Bangkok — what's the routine?

Lane we know well. The hard rule first: only sample-grade non-precious, synthetic, or glass samples on courier. Real precious stones, diamonds, gold — those don't move on air courier; they go through formal consignment, hand-carry or customs-bonded routes (your Bangkok counterpart's broker will know the format). For sample-grade: printed commercial invoice with item description, HSN, quantity, unit value; recipient's Bangkok shop name, Thai phone number, and Thai company TIN if available; your KYC. Express runs 5–7 days into BKK; clearance is 24–48 hours on clean docs. Repeat shipments to the same buyer are very smooth once the first set is established.

Why is anti-monarchy material flagged so seriously?

Thailand's lèse-majesté law (Section 112) makes any material insulting or critical of the Thai monarchy a serious criminal offence. This applies even to foreign-published books and academic texts. Customs screens for it, and the consignee — not the sender — bears the consequence in Thailand. We won't ship anything that obviously falls in that category, and we'll flag borderline cases at pickup. It's not us being cautious; it's a Thai law that's actively enforced.

How fast does express actually land in Bangkok?

5–7 working days door-to-door from Jaipur is what we quote, and it holds when the air leg connects on schedule (Mumbai-BKK is direct daily, Delhi-BKK is direct daily) and customs paperwork is clean. Add 1–2 days if delivery is to Phuket, Chiang Mai or an island. Add a day or two during Songkran (April) and Chinese New Year when Thai gateways slow down. Economy at 7–12 days saves about a third on rate but adds the wait.
